Duftons House »

An attractive cottage - nicely furnished, tastefully decorated, equipped to a high standard. Everything is included in the rent. In a wonderful setting perched on a fellside with panoramic views over the internationally acclaimed scenery of Upper Swaledale.

Well equipped kitchen/utility, a very comfortable lounge with an open fire, 3 bedrooms (one with an ensuite bathroom), a south facing sun trap garden with outdoor furniture. This is a deeply rural retreat, Dales style!

Duftons House, along with the adjoining cottage, is arranged around the immaculately kept farmyard at Oxnop Hall. The owners live in the Hal! and are very highly respected Upper Swaledale sheep breeders and farmers.

They remain on hand during your stay and would be pleased to assist with any enquiries you may have. Many windows in Duftons House overlook the fascinating comings and goings in the farmyard and farm buildings beyond. Other windows have lovely views over the Dale.

"Good for bird lovers"

Muker (1 mile away) is delightful, one of a series of character villages stretched out along the road that leads up Swaledale. It has a pub serving bar food. village store, tea room and Swaledale woolens shop.

Gunnerside (1 mile away) is another of these character villages, and has a pub, an excellent tea room/restaurant and a newly opened forge run as a visitor attraction. From both villages there are some wonderful walks along the banks of the fast flowing River Swale, and also right up on to the high fells, where if the glorious views do not take your breath away the wind most certainly will.
